I’ve been back from Christmas for nearly a week now. I’ve accomplished much more than I thought I was going to be able to this week.
I have been able to create my XML parser that will allow myself and others to develop forms more rapidly. Basically the way it will work is, you will create the form in ASP.NET, you will then describe the form in XML, and when you run the page, the XML is parsed, along with whatever data the user enters, and it creates a SQL statement for you automatically. This function is most useful for reports and searches. But I may be able to include it in my insert/update forms too!
I should be able to complete all the forms design (for those forms I’ve been given) this week. That will hopefully allow me to spend next week getting new forms into the system and running tests on what is complete so far. I am interested in using this tool I’ve read about. It’s built into Visual Studio and it lets me stress test my pages. Should be interesting to see if my code is as small as it can be.
In other news, the office at home is done, just the day-to-day mess that will always be there. This weekend I’m going to go to the home and garden show at the Cabarrus County Expo Center. That should give me some ideas for things to do around the house. Also, I plan to have my bedroom and bathroom complete this weekend. With that, I will turn to the garage once more and find the last places to put all my junk.
That’s it for me. Hopefully I’ll see some of my friends some more while I’m off this weekend.
