I’m at it again!
I’m working on some notes about how to administer a Microsoft Database Server. I’m planning on following the fundamentals you would need to cover the 70-431 (the Microsoft Database Administrator’s exam). I’m doing this to share, but I’m also doing this to help me grow a bit stronger in my Database Administrator skills. Honestly, I don’t get as much time to do administration tasks with the servers I work on every day.
I plan on beginning with installing SQL server 2005, and working my way through to jobs, scheduling, and some optimization. This time rather than just writing one series, I may have to contribute to several series at once. Some of this material is more advanced than others. Especially when I start discussing optimizations. You’ll need to have a decent understanding of database development, so you can understand how the optimizations will affect queries being run against your database.
As usual, if you have any questions, please send them in! I look forward to helping you learn more about Microsoft SQL, and how to make it bow to your will.
