I want to thank all the folks who put together SQL Saturday this past weekend. It’s difficult to summarize how much I learned, and how that knowledge will impact what I do. But I have an idea. I’m going to try to share those things I learned on this site. That way I can help spread the knowledge a bit further… and that was the whole idea behind SQL Saturdays, right?
I concentrated my time learning performance enhancements with SQL server. It’s what I do most often, so I figured there was plenty more to learn. I was right. Even with just 6 hours of training I learned there was far more to learn, than I had already gathered.
Over the next few posts, I’m going to share what I learned about the Dynamic Management Views, partitioning (again), how to maximize plan reuse for your queries, how to identify performance issues, how to logically order your performance enhancements, and how statistics work in SQL Server.
If you find any of this helpful, you should know there are plenty more SQL Saturdays scheduled. You definitely need to check them out!
