I know they’ve just released the Job numbers for April. And yes, it’s a mixed bag of news. While we added a lot of new jobs this month, we’re still showing a high unemployment rate.
While I’m not going to debate any of these numbers, I would like you to turn to your personal job outlook. If you’re reading this site, you’re into Microsoft SQL. Microsoft’s enterprise software market revenues grew 8.5% last year. That means your market grew last year.
Then consider this article. Right now, demand for top talent is far greater than the supply. Companies want to grow, they want to hire tech talent. Most of those they perceive to be top talent are already in positions. So hiring someone away from another company (even better if they get someone from a competitor!) is a high priority.
But, what if you’re not employed?
Then you’ll have to shine a little brighter. Apply more polish to your resume. I’m not just talking about that two page paper thing. I’m talking about your on-line presence too! Polish your LinkedIn Profile, Get your name out there where you’ll be seen excelling in your career. Spend more time networking with both talent in your field, and with recruiters in your field.
This investment will pay huge dividends!
If you want to step up in your career, right now is that time. If you’d like some guidance on how to take that next step, drop me a line. I’ll do what I can to help you take those next steps. After all, that’s what I’m here for.
